Google-Project-Glass

Google has today announced two two-day hackathon events for customers who pre-ordered the Explorer Edition of Project Glass. The events, dubbed Glass Foundry, will be held in San Francisco and New York, and they’ll give developers the opportunity to become the first group to collectively build software for the upcoming device.

Okay, so we’re not talking about the TV show with Heidi Klum, but we are talking about a real-life behind the scenes look at Diane von Furstenberg’s show for New York Fashion Week. Google’s Project Glass outfitted a number of models with color coordinated Google glasses to capture everything from makeup to the catwalk. This collaboration was a unique opportunity to demo first-person views of runway life during one of fashion’s most prominent events.

Of course I’m kidding about Michael Bay, but boy was Google’s demo of Project Glass blockbuster worthy. A few moments ago, Google showed off Project Glass by fitting a few skydivers with their latest Project Glass prototypes which they were broadcasting live via a Google hangout and the results were absolutely amazing.

Boy did Sergey set himself up for this one. While internet trolls and meme generators pull overtime ripping Sergey Brin for showing up to a benefit for the blind wearing a prototype of what could very well be the most innovative glasses, well.. ever — we’re just going to say get over it. I mean Robert Scoble is wearing glasses too, should he be chastised for improving the way he sees the world just because he’s at a benefit (that they both are undoubtedly heavy contributors to)? Moving on.

It appears those rumored Goggle glasses are indeed in the works and Google has released a tantalizing video to give us a look at what a future with Google’s glasses would look like. The video entitled Project Glass: Day One, gives us a sneak peek at how such innovation would change the way we see the world. It’s quite amazing and has me more excited than ever. I’ve haven’t been this giddy about getting my hands on something since the original Nintendo came out (sad, I know). Rather than waste any more of your time, I’ll let you get straight to the video and experience the world through the eyes of Google Glasses.
