Samsung has confirmed that it’s aware of the unwelcome ‘bug’, which jumped on board the latest Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3, that prevents owners from using third-party S-View covers on their smartphones. According to the South Korean company, the source of the software compatibility issue has now been identified, and a software update incorporating a patch for the error will start rolling out shortly.

Windows-Phone-on-HTC

Microsoft is trying to persuade HTC to make new smartphones that run both Android and Windows Phone, and it’s willing to cut or eliminate its own license fee to make it happen. The software giant is hoping the move will encourage consumers to try out the Windows Phone platform and eventually make the switch to it — but could the scheme backfire?

Google has published an update for its My Tracks app in Google Play, bringing along with it landscape views, detailed statistics, travel detection and improved accuracy.

Sprint and social network startup Path are getting cozier. The two companies have announced a partnership of sorts. Sprint will place Path in the “Discover It” widget it preloads onto newer Android devices like the Galaxy S4 and HTC One. In turn, Path will reap the benefits of being displayed front and center to all of Sprint’s Android users.


Path markets themselves as the “Smart Journal” that helps you share your life with close friends and family. Pictures are among the many things you can share through Path and after the “billion dollar” bombshell Instagram and Facebook dropped on the world, Path wanted everyone to know they too have hipster filters. It’s sort of a “hey, look at me” plea, but in Path’s defense, they have been doing a good job at keeping their app updated and warrant a look.
