The Google Now app which comes pre-installed on every Android device has received a rather hefty update that allows the service to provide information for the Winter Olympics, in addition to new capabilities that allows the service to call or send an SMS message to one of your contacts.

Samsung has confirmed that a new version of the device, with NFC equipped, will be launched in the United Kingdom before the end of January. The update will give the Galaxy S III Mini Samsung’s S Beam system, as well as W-Fi Direct support.

The BBC is planning to take home the gold in Olympic coverage this year as they prepare to provide live coverage of every London 2012 sport from every venue throughout the day.
