While Google had plans of unveiling the next set of Nexus devices in NYC this Monday, Mother Nature appears to have other plans. Hurricane Sandy threatens to bombard the East Coast with high winds and unrelenting rainfall. Instead of risking lives, Google has made the right decision to cancel the event. We’re uncertain what this means for the launch of the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and 32GB Nexus, but Google promises to let us know as soon as they make a decision.

Well what do we have here? It appears T-Mobile is holding a showcase in NYC on October 29 — yep, the same day as Google’s Android event as well as Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 event. Coincidence? Maybe… maybe not. Before we get ahead of ourselves, there’s no mention of T-Mobile having anything to do with the Google event, so the chances of them having first dibs on whatever Google announces is unlikely.

Looks like “the playground is open.” That’s been Google catchphrase with the Nexus 7 and now it looks like Google will be expanding that playground with an event in NYC on October 29. The invite resembles Jelly Bean’s Google Now feature, so we’re guessing this event will have something to do with a Nexus and possibly an updated version of Jelly Bean. Maybe we’ll finally hear more about the whole “Nexus program” that’s been floating around. And there’s always the 32GB Nexus?

HTC has been sending press invites out to various news outlets, including both Android and Window’s Phone blogs. This leads us to believe HTC will be announcing a couple devices at its September 19th event. The event will take place in NYC and we’re expecting to see a new Android tablet as well as a 5-inch Verizon phablet. Other than that, you can probably expect some Windows Phone 8 announcements.
