Lenovo is killing the Motorola brand name almost a year after it purchased the company from Google in a deal worth $2.91 billion.

Premium smartphones will use the “Moto by Lenovo” name going forward, while budget devices will be integrated into Lenovo’s Vibe lineup.

Lenovo today unveiled its new Phab Plus smartphone, a supersized device with a 6.8-inch display that’s a blatant iPhone 6 knockoff. The device is coming to the U.S. later this month, assuming Apple’s lawyers can’t get it banned before then.

Motorola is set to announce its second-generation Moto 360 on September 8, according to a teaser image published by parent company Lenovo. We’ve already seen leaked images of the device, which is expected to come in two sizes for the first time.

Just one day after Google announced the “world’s largest” Android update was coming to eliminate the Stagefright vulnerability, two more flaws have been discovered in its platform.

One allows “hundreds of millions” of devices to be hacked without the owner’s knowledge, while the other allows fingerprint data to be stolen remotely.
