The new OnePlus X is now available without an invite — and not just for a limited time. OnePlus has today announced it is scrapping its invite system for its latest smartphone, just 92 days after it made its official debut.

OnePlus has announced that it will begin selling the OnePlus 2 without an invite at midnight on December 5, just in time for the holidays.

No, this isn’t another limited-time promotion; OnePlus is now scrapping its invite system completely for its latest flagship. The Chinese startup will also offer open sales on the new OnePlus X once a week.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei today apologized to fans after admitting that the company “messed up the launch of the OnePlus 2.”

The apology comes after OnePlus failed to deliver on its promise of 30-50 times more invites for the OnePlus 2 at launch and only began shipping “meaningful quantities” of its latest smartphone this week — a month after it first went on sale.

If you’ve been lucky enough to get an invite for the OnePlus 2 and you live in North America, then listen up. OnePlus has confirmed that shipments to the U.S. and Canada will be delayed by 2-3 weeks due to “production schedules.”
