Samsung has begun rolling out its Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy S II Plus, much to the bemusement of users with the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II. Those devices are still waiting to be upgraded from Android 4.1, and given that they were both flagships last year, it’s a little surprising that they’re still waiting to get the latest version of Jelly Bean.

Samsung has produced some of the most popular Android-powered smartphones in recent years, and its flagship Galaxy S III has been one of the most successful devices of the past 12 months. But just how successful are they? Well, Samsung announced on Monday that it has now sold more than 100 million smartphones from its Galaxy S series, with more than 40 million Galaxy S III units shipped in just seven months.

Samsung has today announced the Galaxy S II Plus, a slightly improved version of its hugely successful Galaxy S II, which first launched in April 2011. The handset boasts a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). The handset looks identical to the original Galaxy S II, which only makes us even more confused as to why this handset exists.
