Admit it, you laughed at Samsung and its oversize Galaxy Note when the handset first made its debut at IFA 2011 in Berlin. With its 5.3-inch display, the device was substantially larger than other smartphones at the time, and we all assumed no one would buy one.

But as it turns out, a lot of people like massive smartphones, and the Galaxy Note series has become a huge success. In fact, Samsung just announced that it has now sold more than 10 million Galaxy Note devices in South Korea alone.

In addition to the announcement of its sequel to last years Galaxy Camera this morning, Samsung has also officially launched its brand new NX30 smart camera alongside its first ever “S” series lens, which, according to the South Korean company, features a bright aperture that allows photographers of all skill levels to take professional-quality photographs regardless of shooting conditions.

Samsung has officially announced the successor to last year’s incredibly popular Android-powered Galaxy Camera, aptly entitled the Galaxy Camera 2, just a few days before CES is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas.

Uncharacteristically, for a sequel, Samsung doesn’t appear to have added many new bells and whistles to the device, but the South Korean company promises that the camera should deliver a better experience overall in comparison to the 2013 model.

As of today, Samsung’s Android-powered 4G LTE/Wi-Fi enabled mirrorless camera, the Galaxy NX, is available to purchase in the U.K. from several high street independent electronics retailers.

Samsung vice president JK Shin has reportedly confirmed that the Korean company will launch a mirrorless “Galaxy NX” camera during its June 20 press event in London. The device is expected to be a Galaxy Camera successor powered by the latest version of Android that will be significantly more expensive than the original.
