Google is expected to bring Android app support to its Chrome OS platform after several references to the Play Store were found in the latest developer release.

The move could make more than a million Android titles compatible with super-affordable laptops from the likes of Acer and HP, and it could be announced at Google I/O next month.

This year’s Google I/O conference will kick off on May 18, company CEO Sundar Pichai has confirmed. The three-day event, which will give us our first glimpse at the next big Android update, will take place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View.

According to sources of Wall Street Journal, Google plans on merging Chrome OS with Android. Engineers at the company have been working on this project since the last two years and have made significant progress recently.
