Just days after confirming disappointing smartphone sales, BlackBerry has permanently cut the price of its latest smartphone in a number of markets in an effort to boost interest.

Those purchasing the Priv unlocked and off-contract in the U.S. will now pay $50 less, while those buying the handset in the U.K. and Europe will save £30 and €50 respectively.

BlackBerry is offering Priv owners early access to its Android 6.0 Marshmallow software.

Users can sign up for beta access today, and the first wave of updates will be going to those who purchased their handset off-contract from Amazon, Carphone Warehouse, and ShopBlackBerry.

It seems not even Android can save BlackBerry’s falling hardware business.

The Canadian company has confirmed that it sold just 600,000 smartphones during its fourth fiscal quarter, despite the launch of Priv last November. The new handset clearly hasn’t been the savior many fans were hoping for, then — but we’re not surprised.

The wait for Marshmallow will soon be over for BlackBerry Priv owners.

The Canadian has confirmed that it will make Android 6.0 available for its latest flagship in late April or early May. Its announcement comes after a Priv running Marshmallow was spotted in a YouTube video.
