Quechua 5"

The CEO of Archos, Loic Poirier managed to make a serious faux pas during his live demo of the Quechua 5″ smartphone. This new handset is reportedly resistant to water splashes and comes with IP54 certification as well, which only provides immunity against accidental water spills and not complete submersion like the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the Sony Xperia Z2.

Archos has today announced a trio of new smartphones and a new tablet ahead of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.

The popular French electronics manufacturer, Archos, has unveiled three new affordable low-end Android-powered tablets — the 90 Neon, the 97 Neon and the 101 Neon. The trio will ship running the latest build of Vanilla Android 4.2 Jelly Bean together with a full set of Google apps and services, including Gmail, Google+ and YouTube.

Smartwatches today are a little bit like PDAs in the early 1990s: that technology that everyone seems sure is the future, but which no one has really got right yet.

Well, add Archos’ name to the list of companies willing to try and rectify that situation.

Rugged Phone

The popular Mountaineering sports brand Quechua has teamed up with Archos and produced a 5-inch super rugged smartphone that’s perfect for anybody with an active outdoor lifestyle. The handset is resistant to shock, mud, water, sand, snow and extremely cold temperatures.
