Android has long been available on desktops in some form, but it has never been done right. That’s going to change later this month with Remix OS, a platform that brings Android to almost any Mac and PC — and makes it usable by adding a familiar desktop interface.

Warren East, who has spent the last 12 years as CEO of ARM, has announced that he will retire on July 1. During his time in charge, East has overseen ARM’s processor design powerhouse through some of its most explosive growth, thanks to lucrative deals with companies like Apple, AMD, and Qualcomm.

Back in March, BlueStacks announced the availability of the beta-1 version of their App Player for the PC. Thanks to BlueStacks LayerCake technology, this App Player enabled Android apps to run on x86-based PCs. They’ve now taken their App Player one step further by teaming up with AMD to launch the AMD AppZone.
