Amazon’s Android AppStore might not be as popular as the Play Store, but the company sure does hold some tempting sales every once in a while to attract consumers.

Today, Amazon has announced that it is holding a weekend sale on its AppStore where it will be giving away 31 apps worth up to $100 for free. 

Vine-Android

The popular video sharing app Vine is now available to download on the Amazon app store, compatible with both the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD. This announcement comes just days after a nifty update was introduced for Vine’s Android app, delivering the ability to use your device’s front-facing camera.

Amazon has gone to a federal judge to have Apple’s claim of false advertising in a lawsuit against the Seattle-based online retailer. Amazon claims that the trademark lawsuit brought by Apple in March of last year around the term, “app store” is reasonable enough, given the current climate of selling apps on mobile devices.


It’s only been a week since Amazon made its in-app purchasing API available to all and already they’ve lifted the $20 cap developers were allowed to charge for an in-app purchase. This comes after Amazon implemented stronger parental controls to prevent children from running up mommy and daddy’s credit card. At least that’s the reason Amazon is giving in an email being sent to developers:


For those of you using the Amazon appstore to get your free-app-of-the-day, you’ll be happy to know they have increased the maximum application size that can be downloaded over a mobile connection from 20MB to 50MB. This change comes in the latest update to the appstore and will now give you the convenience of downloading that must have app while on-the-go and away from a WiFi connection.
