Verizon Expands 4G LTE Across Ten California Markets As Well As Reno, Nevada
Verizon continues to blanket the US with 4G LTE while the rest of the carriers desperately play catch up. We’re quick to complain about Verizon’s high prices but at least they’re putting that money to work. Today, Verizon announced it will be expanding its 4G LTE reach in ten California markets as well as Reno, Nevada within the coming weeks. 3G will soon be a thing of the past for those living in the following California cities:

  • Bakersfield
  • Fresno
  • Modesto
  • Monterey
  • Sacramento
  • Salinas
  • San Francisco
  • San Luis Obispo
  • Stockton
  • Visalia

Enjoy those blazing fast speeds California!

I chose Verizon iPad ‘cuz we have LTE in Columbus Ohio.
As it turn out, the speed is no faster than 6mbps download (I got one time it says 8.02mbps), and less than 0.2mbps upload.. Very disappointed.
Plus I got activate data service problem, had to call them to open up an account, and 2 weeks later, I still have “Service already active … cannot be managed in this device” error message. 2 phone calls, and they again asked me to wait 72 hours. Verizon retail store? It’s a joke. The employees too have to call the help line, and absolute no help.

Weird.  I’m in Columbus, too. On my iPad I get between 10 – 12 Mbps consistently, sometimes more.  And I had no trouble activating.

That sucks.   I’m actually hoping they get 4G LTE in Corpus Christi Texas but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.  Once they do though I’ll be ready to purchase whatever iPad is out at that point.  I have an iPad 1 but I’d like to be able to take it to the gym and watch netflix or Hulu, that way I dont have to worry about them playing crappy channels at 24 hourfitness.

Just noticed yesterday I was getting Verizon 4G service in Breckenridge, CO. Next announcement might be official 4G service in the Colorado Rockies towns.
