What better way to market your latest products than to get them into the hands of the most powerful people in America… or at least actors pretending to be the most powerful people in America.

That’s exactly what Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus did when it coughed up $300,000 to get the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2, and OnePlus X on hit Netflix show House of Cards.

Now in its fourth season, House of Cards is one of the hottest TV shows around. Its 52 episodes have an average Metacritic rating of 77, and it has bagged Emmys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and more since premiering on Netflix three years ago.

It’s no wonder that companies want their products in the hands of the cast, then. So much so that even a startup like OnePlus, which makes very little on its affordable phones, is willing to shell out $300,000 to get its devices on the show.

House of Cards is also littered with products from Apple, BlackBerry, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, and many others. Alongside these names, it’s somewhat strange to see OnePlus devices, but the placement will certainly help OnePlus build a name for itself.

In fact, when you think about it, $300,000 seems quite a bargain.
