Pebble has slashed $50 off its latest Time and Time Round smartwatches.

The permanent price cut lowers the starting prices of these models to $149.99 and $199.99, respectively — and makes them more competitive against other affordable wearables from the likes of Asus, Fitbit, and Jawbone.

Pebble has previously slashed $50 off Time and Time Round, but only for short promotional periods. However, these cuts are sticking around — likely with the hope that they can shift more units as competition heats up in the wearables market.

You can now buy Android Wear watches like the Asus ZenWatch 2 for as little as $149, while the new Fitbit Blaze — which is available today — launches at $199.95. Other options in the Fitbit lineup can be had for as little as $99.95.

Pebble has lost some of its original appeal as new contenders hit the market, but it’s still a terrific smartwatch with a growing catalog of apps and faces, week-long battery life, a color screen that you can actually see outside, and more.

The new models also offer Pebble Health, which tracks your steps and sleep, and offers a new API that lets developers build new health apps that seamlessly integrate with Pebble’s OS. Since it launched in December, 90 percent of Time users have activated Pebble Health.
