HTC will partner up with Google again this year to deliver not one but two new Nexus smartphones, replacing those currently made by LG and Huawei, according to sources.

HTC has previously teamed up with Google to make the Nexus One, the very first Nexus smartphone — and the Nexus 9, Google’s most recent tablet.

According to the tipster, who posted the details on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, the new Nexus smartphones will be available with 5- and 5.5-inch displays. However, there’s not much else to know about these devices at this point.

HTC’s smartphone business has struggled to compete in recent years, and the Taiwanese company has recently switched its focus to virtual reality instead, with HTC Vive now available for pre-order. But it will continue to make phones, and those carrying the Nexus logo might sell better than its own.

This is just speculation for now, though. Google’s latest Nexus smartphones have become some of its best-received, so it would make sense to stick with LG and Huawei for at least another year — and Weibo isn’t always a reliable source.

With that in mind, we’re taking this one with a pinch of salt for now. But would you like to see new Nexus smartphones from HTC?
