LG has issued invites that ask us to “save the date” for an October 1 press event in New York City, where the company could announce a brand new smartphone. The event takes place just two days after Google is expected to announce its new Nexus devices.

One of those Nexus devices will be manufactured by LG, so it could be that we see two new LG devices within as many days. It’s also possible, however, that LG’s event will be focused on a new tablet, or even a new Android Wear watch instead.

LG’s invite doesn’t give us many clues, though there it does include a picture of a clapper board and movie reel that suggests whatever the device may be, there will be a strong focus on its camera or video recording capabilities.

LG has previously teased a new flagship device for 2015 — despite having already launched the G Flex 2 and G4 — and an unannounced “V10” smartphone was recently outed by Chinese telecoms regulator TENAA.

The V10 is expected to pack a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. It is also likely to include LG’s new 16-megapixel camera that’s proven incredibly popular in the G4, and a microSD card slot.

The V10’s most unique feature is a secondary display that sits right above the main display, which will reportedly act as a digital “ticker” for notifications — similar to the way in which the Galaxy Note Edge displays notifications on the side of its display.
