Google can now send messages for you even when you use third-party messaging services. Its latest update for the Google app on Android enables the “Ok Google” feature to play nicely with apps like WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, and more.

We’ve long been able to send text messages using our voice on Android, but with the latest Google app update, we’re not restricted to using only Hangouts and other text messaging apps; your favorite modern messaging clients are supported, too.

Saying “Ok Google, send a WhatsApp message to Stacey,” or, “Ok Google, send a Viber message to John,” will now allow you to send messages through those service without having to type them out. You can also include the message in your command.

For instance, you can say, “Ok Google, send a Telegram message to Mark: what time would you like to meet tomorrow?” and your message will be composed and sent in a snap.

The full list of supported messaging clients right now includes WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, Telegram, and NextPlus. Just ensure you’re using the latest version of the Google app, which is available to download from the Play Store now.
