OnePlus has finally confirmed the date of its next smartphone unveiling, and it’s going to be unlike any other product launch you’ve ever seen. On July 27 at 7 p.m. PT, the Chinese company will unveil the much-anticipated OnePlus 2 in virtual reality.

“In our industry, product launches tend to be the same. An auditorium, a keynote, and a seated audience,” OnePlus says in a post on its forum. “For the OnePlus 2 launch, we didn’t want that barrier between us and you; we want to invite you into our world, because you’re a major part of it.”

So, on July 27, you can experience the OnePlus 2 unveiling as if you were stood right in front of the OnePlus team. You’ll be able to look around as the device shows its face for the first time, and OnePlus will be hiding some Easter eggs that you’ll want to look out for.

Of course, to enjoy the event in VR, you’ll need a VR headset.

Any Google Cardboard headset will do, but if you don’t have one of those, don’t worry — because OnePlus will give you on of theirs for free (though you’ll have to pay for shipping). Just visit the OnePlus Cardboard page and place your order when they become available “soon.”

We already know that the OnePlus 2 will feature a Snapdragon 810 processor, USB-C technology, and that it’ll cost more than its predecessor. But while that’s all that’s been confirmed so far, some reports have promised a 2K display, and improvements to the handset’s camera.
