Samsung has rolled out a new update for the Samsung Push app that could improve the woeful battery life on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. The update is available now from Google Play, and it promises to reduce data usage and power consumption.

I’ve been using the Galaxy S6 for almost a week now, and while I’ll save most of my thoughts for my full review, I have to say that battery life is one of the few things I’ve been disappointed with.

Before getting the Galaxy S6, I was switching between a Galaxy Note 4 and an iPhone 6 Plus, both of which provide great battery life. The Note 4 always got me through the day with juice to spare, with the 6 Plus often made it through two days of use.

But with the Galaxy S6, I’ve twice had to top up the device in the early evening to make it through the rest of the day.

I’m confident Samsung can fix this with software updates, and I hope to see some improvements with its latest Samsung Push update, which brings “patches for reduce [sic] data usage and power consumption.”

If you’re using an S6 or S6 edge — or any Samsung device, for that matter — you can download the latest Samsung Push update now. If it improves battery life for you, be sure to let us know in the comments.
