Samsung’s Super AMOLED displays have long been some of the best you can get on a mobile device, and they only get better with the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. According to the experts at DisplayMate, they are the “best mobile displays ever tested.”

Announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this month, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge both boast Quad HD displays just like the 6-month old Galaxy Note 4, but they’ve been improved in a number of ways.

Not only do Samsung’s latest devices deliver more pixels per inch, but also a 27% improvement in color accuracy, a 12% percent increase in peak brightness, and a 20% improvement in power efficiency over their predecessor, the Galaxy S5.

“The display on the Galaxy S6 matches and even exceeds the performance of Galaxy Note 4 that we measured in 2014 and rated it as the Best Performing Smartphone Display that we had ever tested,” writes Dr. Raymond M. Soneira, president of DisplayMate Technologies.

Beating out the Note 4 (albeit only slightly), which became the first smartphone to ever achieve green ratings for every test and measurement DisplayMate carries out, will have been no easy feat — not even for Samsung.

But the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge manage to match or outshine their bigger brother in almost every way.

“The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 4 are neck-and-neck record holders for display performance, effectively tied or alternating between first and second place in almost all categories except screen size for the much larger Galaxy Note 4,” Soneira adds.

“So… The Galaxy S6 matches the Galaxy Note 4 in overall display excellence and record performance and joins it as the Best Performing Smartphone Display that we have ever tested.”
