OnePlus has promised to deliver a brand new device in April, and it isn’t going to be another smartphone. Company founder Carl Pei says OnePlus will enter a new product category, and he’s left fans guessing which one that might be.

“At the Mobile World Congress fair grounds in Barcelona we ran into Carl Pei, Global Director of OnePlus Global, and he shared some interesting information with us,” reports GSMArena. “OnePlus is preparing an entrance into a new product category.”

Before you get too excited, Pei did confirm it would not be a tablet or a smartwatch. So if you were hoping those questionable leaks of a OnePlus Watch were about to become official, you might as well forget it — at least for now.

So, what does that leave?

Well, there are lots of options. While Pei ruled out a smartwatch, a fitness tracker seems like a viable option — and that’s what I’d put my money on.

OnePlus could also take a similar approach to follow Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi and begin building things like TVs and other home entertainment devices, but that seems unlikely given the small profit margins on those devices.

Perhaps it will be something less exciting, like premium headphones or other accessories? What do expect to see from OnePlus?
