We almost made it to Mobile World Congress without any really big Samsung leaks, but that’s all changed, thanks to these photos of the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge side by side.

Both devices appear to be exactly what the rumors promised, but there are some subtle surprises. Not only does the regular Galaxy S6 look slightly taller than the S6 Edge, but Samsung appears to have taken a different approach to its curved display.

Both devices have metallic frames with chamfered edges, as expected, and what appears to be curved glass back panels. From the back, they look almost identical. When you flip them over, the regular Galaxy S6 looks a lot like its predecessors, while the S6 Edge is curved on both sides.

With the Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung has modified its TouchWiz user interface to treat the curve as a secondary display; it displays icons and scrolling notifications on the home screen, controls inside the Camera app, and more.

But on the S6 Edge, it seems the standard interface simply extends over the edges. We do expect Samsung to make use of that curve elsewhere, however.

These appear to be prototype devices — the strange markings across the bottom bezel on both devices are a dead giveaway — so it’s worth noting that some things could be different when the final designs are unveiled next week. But it’s unlikely they’ll be vastly different to this.

One thing you can be sure of, however, is that better pictures will do these devices justice. They don’t look anywhere near as fancy as we’re expecting them to be in these grainy shots, but don’t let that put you off.
