Verizon spoils the Nexus 6 by adding its own logo

It’s been more than three months since the Nexus 6 first went on sale in the U.S., and consumers are still waiting for it to become available on Verizon.

The reason for the delay is unclear, but it looks like the company may have held things up so that it would have time to slap its logo on the back of each handset.

The image above, which was passed onto Phandroid by a “trusted source,” shows that Verizon is branding the Nexus 6 just like it would any other smartphone.

The good news is, this is expected to be the only difference between the Verizon Nexus 6 and the stock model you would receive from Google Play — though there will likely be a couple of pre-installed apps. The bad news is, that’s a Verizon logo on the back of a Nexus 6. Ugh.

A case will cover it, of course, and it’s probably recommended with a device this big that could quite easily slip out of your hands. But if you’re like me, you don’t want to have to put your smartphone in a case — especially not just to cover a logo.

We still don’t have a release date for this device, however, a new banner on Verizon’s website now promises it is “coming soon.”
