If you’ve got a device from Sony’s newest Xperia Z3 family, your wait for an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade is almost over. Sony has confirmed it will be bringing Google’s latest software to the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, and the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact starting next month.

Sony has already confirmed that a large number of Z Series devices will get Lollipop, including the original Xperia X — and the Japanese company will address the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition first. While the handset may be getting old now, it runs pure Android, so Sony doesn’t need to make any of its own tweaks before rolling it out.

The Xperia Z3 family is next in line, though, according to Sony COO Michael Fasulo, who has promised a February launch. We don’t have a specific date yet, unfortunately, but we expect Sony to provide one nearer the time.

“We’ve been working hard to bring this major update to as many of our Z Series devices as we can, as quickly as we can,” Sony said in a blog post back in October. “We’re really excited about the new Sony features & functionality and the improvements we’ve made to the user experience – and we’ll be sharing more soon.”
