Owners of the HTC One M7 and One M8 Google Play Edition devices have been waiting weeks for their promised Lollipop upgrades, and following a series of delays, they’re here. What’s more, they have become the first to get Google’s latest Android 5.0.1 software over-the-air.

As always, it’ll likely take a little while for all One M7 and One M8 GPE devices to get the upgrade — but we now know the software is finally on its way. If you haven’t already received an update notification, then, keep your eyes peeled. You can also search for it manually via the software update section inside the Settings app if you’re really bored of waiting.

HTC’s GPE devices were supposed to receive Lollipop in mid-November, according to the company’s vice president of product management, Mo Versi. However, it was delayed several times while HTC waited for the update to be approved by Google.

Users shouldn’t be too disappointed with the wait, however. Not only have they gotten a Lollipop upgrade before the vast majority of Android users, but they’re also the first to get the latest Android 5.0.1 release — which we knew nothing about until earlier this week.

Don’t expect any major changes in this build, though; it’s the Lollipop update you’ve been expecting, but with a few bugs and instabilities ironed out. What you do have to look forward to is Material Design, improved multitasking, lock screen notifications, and lots more.
