HTC’s One handsets have been some of the best Android-powered smartphones we’ve seen in recent years, but they certainly haven’t been without their flaws. The Taiwanese company is looking to address many of those with next year’s One M9, which will be better than its predecessors in almost every way, sources claim.

Both last year’s One M7 and this year’s One M8 have excellent displays, speedy processors, and decent battery life. They also boast HTC’s terrific BoomSound speakers and gorgeous designs made mostly out of aluminum. One of the biggest complaints about both devices, however, is that they do not have great cameras.

HTC could be looking to change that next year. According to sources for My Driversthe One M9 will have a much-improved 16MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, and it will be the only camera sensor on the back of the device; there will be no second sensor for focusing like there is on the One M8.

The One M9, which is being promised for Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next February, is also expected to come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 805 processor, 64GB and 128GB storage options, a 3,500mAh battery, and a super sharp 5.5-inch display with a 2560×1440 resolution.

Those BoomSound speakers will remain My Drivers says, but after HTC ended its partnership with Beats, the company is reportedly looking to spark up a similar deal with Bose. However, it’s unclear whether Bose will have any impact on the handset’s speaker hardware, or just create custom software for it — like Harman Kardon did for the Sprint-exclusive M8.

My Drivers also promises a One M9 Prime handset for next year, which is expected to be an even bigger, even beefier version of the One M9. Countless rumors claimed we would see a One M8 Prime this year, though, and HTC eventually scrapped plans to make it.
