Take a peek at Samsung’s Lollipop update for the Galaxy S4

Samsung’s already confirmed that the Galaxy S4 will get an Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and thanks to a leaked pre-release build, we get to see exactly what it’s going to be like ahead of its public debut. As you might expect, it’s heavily modified thanks to TouchWiz, but Samsung’s made a lot of nice visual changes that let that Material Design shine through in places.

The software is a lot like the leaked Lollipop build we saw for the Galaxy S5 back in early October, though as you might expect, the Galaxy S4 won’t get all of the features its successor will. Nevertheless, this is still a major update over KitKat, and it looks pretty darn terrific.

Lollipop runs incredibly well on the Galaxy S4 — despite that TouchWiz UI, which is notorious for being a little slow at times. Even though the Galaxy S4 is getting on a bit now, its hardware is more than capable of providing a smooth experience with Android 5.0 — and that’s evident even with pre-release software.

As SamMobile notes in the video, this build has bugs — like no Wi-Fi — which is why it’s not being made available to download. For now, then, you’re going to have to wait to get your hands on it.
