Here’s something you don’t see everyday: A smartphone unboxing underwater. British retailer Carphone Warehouse came up with the ingenious idea for the new Sony Xperia Z3 to highlight one of its biggest selling points — its IP68 rating for water-resistance — and it’s just as great as you’d expect.

I understand the interest in unboxing videos; people want to know what they’re going to get when they spend their hard-earned cash on a new gadget, and the best way to do that before buying it is to watch someone else open it up. The only problem is, they’re not terribly exciting — at least not when you’ve been watching them for years.

But the Xperia Z3 unboxing below is incredibly entertaining. Not only is it unique, but it’s funny, too — especially when the handset’s box and user manuals float away. It also highlights what is arguably the Xperia Z3’s most important feature for many users — its ability to withstand water even at the bottom of a swimming pool.

In addition to its water-resistant form factor, the Xperia Z3 boasts a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, and a 3,100mAh battery. Like all Xperia smartphones it also has impressive cameras, including a 20.7-megapixel sensor on its back and a 2.2-megapixel sensor on its front.
