A leaked poster published on Chinese social network Weibo has allegedly revealed the upcoming HTC One M8 EYE ahead of its official unveiling. The device looks identical to the original One M8, seemingly confirming that the only differences between the two will be internal. Rumor has it they will all be focused on its front- and rear-facing cameras.

The One M8 EYE is expected to be the focus at HTC’s “Double Exposure” event on October 8. Given the title, we had a feeling it would be photography-focused, and this leaked poster — along with the countless rumors — all but confirms that.

It would appear the only difference between the EYE and the original One M8, then, will be its cameras. The original was criticized for its 4-megapixel UltraPixel shooter, which is inconsistent and disappointing in anything but low-light, but the EYE is expected to have a much-improved 13-megapixel option — still accompanied by a second rear-facing sensor.

It’s also expected to have a better front-facing camera, which is highlighted by the person snapping a selfie in the poster.

Aside from those improvements, we can expect to see the same 5-inch 1080p display, the same Snapdragon 801 processor, and the same 2,600mAh battery. The device may launch with HTC’s new Sense 6.5 user interface, but don’t be surprised if that’s saved for the One M8 Max instead.
