Samsung isn’t the only company announcing big things at IFA 2014 in Berlin today; Sony is also there to showcase its latest additions to the Xperia lineup — one of which is the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet. It’s one of Sony’s smallest slates to date, and it comes with PlayStation 4 Remote Play, allowing you to play your latest games away from the living room.

If you like your tablets to be super portable, then the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact with its 8-inch 1920×1200 display could be right up your street. It’s super slim, measuring just 6.4mm; dust- and water-resistant, and lightweight at only 270 grams. And like other Sony Compact devices, its small form factor does not mean it skimps on specifications.

The Z3 Tablet Compact is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, which is combined with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion. It has a massive 4,500mAh battery, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and Android 4.4 KitKat with Sony’s latest user interface.

One of its most exciting features is Remote Play, which allows it to act as a monitor for your PS4. So when your other half wants to watch TV, you can join your friends for a game of FIFA using just your Z3 Tablet Compact and a PS4 controller. Sony is even offering a nifty accessory that joins the two together for a more handheld experience.

The Z3 Tablet Compact will be available globally this fall, with and without LTE connectivity. We’re still waiting for Sony to confirm its price tag.
