Sharp’s borderless Aquos Crystal comes to Sprint for just $10 a month

Sharp’s jaw-dropping Aquos Crystal, a 5-inch smartphone with almost no bezel around its display, is now officially coming to Sprint. The device will cost just $10 a month with nothing to pay upfront on a two-year contract, or you can buy it outright for $149.99 on Boost or Virgin Mobile.

The Aquos Crystal is a genuinely stunning smartphone. Its “borderless” design gives it a premium look that we haven’t seen from competing handsets before; it looks more like a fan-made concept than a real product. Unfortunately, its internal specifications aren’t quite as spectacular.

The Crystal’s 5-inch display sports a slightly disappointing 720p resolution, and it’s powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor — the same chip that’s packed into devices like the original HTC One mini and the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. It also has just 8GB of storage, though there is a microSD card slot for expansion.

Other specifications include a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,040mAh battery.

The Crystal certainly isn’t a high-end smartphone, then, but you won’t be paying high-end prices for it, either. If you can settle for midrange specifications, this is, without a doubt, the prettiest smartphone you can get for just $10 a month.

Sprint hasn’t confirmed the Crystal’s launch date yet, but we expect to hear more soon.
