5 of the best icon packs available right now

Its been more than a year since we last did an icon pack roundup for third-party launchers. Since then, the number of quality icon packs released on the Play Store has increased exponentially. With a barrage of icon packs, it can get difficult for users to differentiate the good ones that are worth their money to poor low quality ones.

To make your life easier, we list down 5 new icons to hit the Play Store in the last year or so that will give your boring old home screen a visual refresh.

Nox

The mastermind behind Nox is kovdev, the developer of other hugely popular icon packs like Stark and Tersus. While the icon pack makes use of the now overused long-shadow effect, they have a ‘pop’ effect to them, thanks to strong dash of solid color in their background.

Nox comes with more than 1950 high-definitions icons and a cloud-based wallpaper gallery that matches the icons perfectly.

Voxel

Just like Nox, Voxel also makes use of the long-shadow effect. However, the icons in themselves have a very simple and flat design, which is where the strength of Voxel lies. If you like simple icons, Voxel is definitely going to suit your tastes.

The icon pack consists of more than 1000 high-definition icons, which is a bit lower than what other icon packs offer. However, it still includes icons for nearly all the popular apps out there, and since it is completely free to download and use, there really is no harm in trying it.

Morena

Morena ditches the long shadow effect in favor of a flat design with semi-rounded corners. While it lacks the ‘pop’ effect of Nox and Voxel, it more than makes up for it with its beautiful and simple icon designs, which makes it easy for users to identify an app when they are in a rush.

Morena packs in a whopping 2670+ high-resolution icons and comes with 55 custom designed wallpapers to match the icons.

Moonshine

Moonshine

This free icon pack from Nexbit Design is based on the leaked Project Hera screenshots, details about which leaked quite a few weeks before Google officially unveiled its new Material Design language and Android L.

The icon pack consists of only 405 HD icons — quite a bit lesser than what your average icon pack out there packs. However, Moonshine more than makes up for it with a very flat, clean and unique take on the stock icon of most apps. Its cloud based wallpaper picker consists of more than 20 wallpapers that go perfectly with the whole Hera design language.

The developers have also promised a very big update for the icon pack sometime soon that will add new icons for more apps.

Vibe

If you are looking for some colourful icons, look no further than Vibe, which consists of more than 1800 icons featuring a unique dimensional style. All the icons have a very vibrant look to them with subtle shadowing on top of them, which gives them a very lively look.

Like all the other icon packs above, Vibe also comes with 10 custom made wallpapers that blend in perfectly with the icons.

The above five are just my favorite icon packs that were released in the Play Store over the last year. Below are some other icon packs that did not make the cut but are definitely worth a look:
