T-Mobile has today announced that it’s teamed up with Samsung to exclusively launch a brand new, mid-range smartphone that won’t break the bank. The Galaxy Avant can be yours for $0 up front, followed by $9 per month for the next 24 months, or for $216 outright on a prepaid plan with no strings attached.

Much to our surprise, the Avant features some pretty beefy internals for what’s considered an entry-level device. The handset features a 4.5-inch qHD display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, a Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD), an Adreno 305 GPU, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and, finally, support for 4G LTE.

The Galaxy Avant ships running Android 4.4 KitKat, skinned with the latest build of Samsung’s famous TouchWiz user interface, which means it comes with a whole host of unique features on-board —  S-Health, Ultra Power Saving Mode, ChatON, Group Play, Best Photo, Sound & Shot, Motion Control, Multi-Window, and lots more.
