You may not have taken too much notice of previous Lenovo smartphones — after all, they haven’t exactly been big outside of China. But the leaked Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is hoping to change that and take on 2014’s hottest flagships with a premium form factor and stellar specifications.

These pictures of the Vibe Z2 Pro surfaced on Sina Weibo, the popular Chinese micro-blogging network — over the weekend, and they give us plenty of reasons to be excited about this device. Not only does it sport a slim and sexy metal design, measuring just 7.7mm thick, but it also packs a massive display and high-end specifications.

That’s a 6-inch display, to be precise, and it boasts a super sharp Quad HD (2560×1440) resolution. The Vibe Z2 Pro is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, has a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, and a massive 4,000mAh battery that keeps it all going.

While Lenovo may not be a popular brand in the west, its upcoming flagship has all the ingredients necessary to take on this year’s biggest devices. Not only will it become one of the first devices with a Quad HD display, but it offers features other handsets don’t — like optical image stabilization. Its metal form factor may also give it the edge over devices like the Galaxy S5 for those who care about design.

These images of the Vibe Z2 Pro were supposedly taken at an internal Lenovo event — presumably to give employees the chance to see the device before it gets its official unveiling. We aren’t sure when that will be just yet, but it doesn’t look like it’s too far off now.
