With the Galaxy S5 set to make its retail debut in just over a week, Samsung can now turn its attention to the flagship’s smaller sibling, the Galaxy S5 mini.

The handset is expected to make its debut in June, and according to inside sources familiar with Samsung’s plans, it’s going to feature a 4.5-inch 720p display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 16GB of internal storage as standard.

SamMobile reports the Galaxy S5 mini will also boast a Snapdragon processor — likely a quad-core Snapdragon 400 — in addition to 1.5GB of RAM, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,100mAh battery. Android 4.4 KitKat will be pre-installed alongside Samsung’s latest TouchWiz user interface.

Galaxy S5 mini is expected to adopt some of the original Galaxy S5’s key features. One of those could be an infrared sensor for controlling your TV and other electronics, and the other a water-resistant form factor with IP67 certification.

But even with these improvements, the Galaxy S5 mini will still be a midrange handset that simply looks a bit like a flagship. It’s highly unlikely it’ll feature a heartbeat sensor or fingerprint scanner, or fancy camera features like HDR+.
