HTC may have just announced a stunning new flagship in the One M8, but the Taiwanese company actually vowed to place a greater focus on more affordable midrange offerings for 2014.

We’ve already seen two of those in the Desire 610 and the Desire 816, which were announced at MWC — and now a third, the Desire 616, has popped up in China ahead of its official unveiling.

The good-looking device certainly won’t look out of place in the Desire lineup; it looks very similar to the Desire 610 — with the obvious difference being the omission of a front-facing BoomSound speaker along its bottom edge.

Instead, the Desire 616 appears to have a regular speaker on its back. And while we’re on the subject of its back, check out that super-shiny finish.

According to the Chinese TENAA listing, the Desire 616 will offer a 5-inch 720p display, a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p video recording. It’ll also boast a microSD card slot, and it’ll run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

It’s certainly a midrange smartphone, then, but it appears to be a very good one. What’s more, it’ll be available in a number of pretty colors, including red, yellow, white, black, and blue.

We’re still waiting for HTC to confirm the Desire 616, so we don’t yet know when it’ll be available or how much it’ll cost. As soon as we do, we’ll let you know.
