New HTC One To Cost $600 In U.S., And Only Best Buy Will Sell It In Gold

The All New HTC One will cost $600 off-contract when it goes on sale in the United States, according to the latest information leaked on Twitter. In addition, the gold variant is expected to be a Best Buy exclusive — at least initially.

That could change later on, of course, but at first it appears this particular model won’t be available anywhere else. The ever-reliable @Evleaks revealed on Twitter this week that it has a “Best Buy-only SKU.”

Earlier reports have also suggested that Verizon will be the only carrier offering the new HTC One on launch day (tomorrow), while the others will have to wait until mid-April for it.

As for the cost, $600 is certainly a premium price tag, but this is very much a premium handset. The original HTC One cost the same went that hit stores this time last year, so it’s hardly surprising that its successor will retail at the same price.

We expect the device to offer a slightly larger 5-inch display, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 801 processor, dual rear-facing cameras, and improved BoomSound speakers. It will also run Android 4.4.2 KitKat and debut HTC’s latest Sense 6 user interface.
