Google Now Launcher Lands On The Google Play Store

Google Now Launcher

The coveted Google Now Launcher can now be officially downloaded from the Google Play Store. This launcher initially broke cover with the Google Nexus 5 and was eventually available for side loading through third party sources, but Google has finally made it available directly through its app hub.

At the moment, the launcher is only available for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices, but Google is expected to extend support to other handsets as well. But if you have an AOSP or stock Android ROM running on your smartphone, you will be able to sideload this launcher manually on your device.

The launcher works with the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and a variety of Google Play Edition devices which are available through the Google Play Store. Although its availability is limited to a few devices, the fact that Google is expanding this ‘Nexus 5 only’ feature to the entirety of its Nexus lineup is a commendable effort.

With this launcher, users will get the full Google experience right within the homescreen. The ‘Ok Google’ voice command will work anywhere from the homescreen and will not require users to manually head over to Google Now.
