Android 4.4 KitKat Reaches HTC One Handsets In Europe

HTC has begun rolling out its Android 4.4 KitKat update to One handsets across Europe. The 308MB release adds a number of new features, including support for the Cloud Print service and Bluetooth profiles, and improves security. It also kills HTC’s own web browser and support for Adobe Flash in favor of Chrome.

The update comes with software version 4.19.401.8, and it’s being distributed over-the-air to unlocked handsets in the Nordic region. Those in other areas of Europe are expected to get it in the coming days, but of course, if you have a carrier-locked handset you may have to wait a little longer for its approval.

Android 4.4 isn’t a major update for the HTC One, though it doesn’t deliver some security enhancements and a number of KitKat features. Unfortunately for those who like HTC’s built-in web browser, that’s now gone — but if you’re not keen on Chrome there are plenty of good third-party alternatives in Google Play.
