LAS VEGAS, CES 2014 – Hyundai will reveal an app for its 2015 Hyundai Genesis vehicle that will allow drivers to wirelessly operate certain features using Google Glass and other wearable devices.

The remote features (currently still under development) work via Hyundai’s cloud-based Blue Link platform.

“The scenarios pop up and then you’re able to use hand gestures to move through the screens” said Hyundai spokesperson Miles Johnson on the subject of how features and options are selected. “You can lock the doors, start the car or look for a destination and put that route into the car from Glass.”

“In 2013, we saw millions of commands sent to Hyundai vehicles from our Blue Link mobile application,” commented Barry Ratzlaff, executive director of Customer Connect and Service Business Development at Hyundai Motor America. “As new screens emerge, we see a real opportunity to expand our app strategy to provide added convenience for our owners.”

The announcement is particularly interesting in light of the news — reported by Cult of Android back in October of last year — of the Google Glass user given a ticket for operating a vehicle “with monitor visible to driver.”
