Google Rolls Out Bug-Fixing Android 4.4.2 Update To Nexus Devices

Nexus-5-Android-4-4-1

Google has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 update for all the Nexus devices, fixing the flash SMS bug that was reported last week. The update comes less than a week after the company started rolling out the Android 4.4.1 update that greatly improved the Nexus 5 camera performance.

The official change-log of this update courtesy of Sprint is below -:

Enhancements/Fixes

– Fix for clearing the VM Indicator

– Fix for delivery of the VM Indicator

– Various additional software fixes

– Security enhancements

There are no other visible changes, but the update does break App Ops — a hidden permission manager for apps– that Google silently introduced in Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

As always, the OTA update is being rolled out in stages so it can take up to a couple of weeks for the update notification to pop-up on your phone. The download links of the OTA are already available, so you can always install the update manually by following this guide.

Nexus 5 -> 4.4 to 4.4.2 OTA update, 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 OTA update

Nexus 4 -> 4.4 to 4.4.2 OTA update, 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 OTA update

Nexus 7 Wi-Fi -> 4.4 to 4.4.2 OTA update, 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 OTA update
