The popular global discount supermarket chain, Aldi, is the latest retailer to jump on the cut-price Android-powered tablet bandwagon and as from this Sunday will be offering the Medion LifeTab E7316 7-inch ultra budget-friendly tablet with a price tag £79.99.

The device packs a 7-inch multifinger capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 x 600, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 8GB of internal flash memory (expandable up to 32GB via microSD), a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing shooter.

In addition, the slate ships running the latest build of “Vanilla” Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but, unfortunately, is not expected to receive the much-anticipated Android 4.3 update, let alone 4.4 KitKat. However, to bring some uniqueness to your device, you could always install a custom launcher, a selection of which can be seen here.

Obviously, the LifeTab is nothing overly impressive when compared to the likes of the Nexus 7, but considering this tablet sells for less than half the price of Google’s offering, it’s relatively safe to say that you seem to be getting pretty decent value for money.

Aldi failed to mention whether the slate is Google Play certified, and if it turns out not to be, Google could file to have it removed from the shelves and prevent all users from accessing the Google Play Store and other generic applications such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google+ and Hangouts.

If you like the sound of the Medion LifeTab E7316 and want to check it out, be sure to visit your local Aldi store on Sunday morning, or visit the retailers website by clicking the source link below.
