Motorola is in the process of pushing out a largely-requested update via Google Play for the official Moto X camera application. The upgrade brings a brightened camera viewfinder, a Quick Capture mode for Enterprise users and a truckload of stability improvements and bug fixes. So, all-in-all it’s a pretty significant update that we would advise all Moto X owners to download.

The Moto X’s camera was, without a doubt, one of the handsets weakest features at launch (August, 2013) but over the course of the past few months several over-the-air updates have been rolled out to the handset, which have greatly improved the performance of the 10-megapixel rear-facing shooter.

However, now Motorola has taken a different approach to updating its system applications; instead of waiting to rollout an OTA update, that has to go through a tedious process of being approved by carriers of the handset, the newly Google owned company has decided to push out updates more frequently via the Play Store.

Since the last OTA update, many users have been complaining that the built-in viewfinder was particularly bad in low-light conditions, as the dimmed screen made it difficult to see the display. In response to some user’s desperate cries for help, Motorola has slightly modified the Moto X camera app, bringing a “brightened camera viewfinder,” which, apparently, makes the camera significantly easier to use in “all conditions.”
