BlackBerry Working With Google To Remove Fake BBM Reviews From Google Play

BlackBerry says it is working with Google to remove fake, five-star BBM reviews that have been submitted to Google Play. The reviews were submitted the day that BBM became available on Android, and every single one says the same thing in broken English.

“Thank you so much blackberry team,” the reviews read. “I was waiting this app. Its really great user friendly smooth.”

It’s unclear where the reviews came from, or who’s behind them, but it certainly seems as though this isn’t a BlackBerry ploy to boost interest in its new app. BlackBerry does have a rather faithful and passionate user base, though, so it’s possible a group of fans got together… who knows why.

Whatever the case may be, it was pretty obvious the reviews weren’t genuine. But BlackBerry is working with Google to have them removed.

“We have recently been made aware of a number of potentially fake five-star reviews of BBM for Android on Google Play,” said PR director Victoria Berry in a statement to Android Central. “We do not approve of or condone such activities and are committed to working with Google to resolve this.”

“There are also many genuinely great and useful reviews from our new BBM users on Google Play. We would like to encourage our passionate fans and users to continue to provide true assessments of the BBM experience through the proper channels.”
