Waterproof Galaxy S4 Active Leaked Ahead Of Release

Back in April, we heard Samsung was planning a “ruggedized” version of its new Galaxy S4 that would be both dust and water resistant, and considerably stronger than the original. Now that device, called the Galaxy S4 Active, has been leaked ahead of its official release.

As you can see from the photos, which were obtained by GSMArena, the Galaxy S4 Active looks a lot like the original from the front, except it has three physical buttons as opposed to just one. From the back, however, it looks very different.

The back is made of a metallic metal — not plastic! — that means it’s super strong, and it has four bolts around its edges. Presumably, users will be able to open the handset up themselves to get to the battery and microSD card slot as with most Samsung smartphones.

On the inside, the Galaxy S4 active is expected to be almost identical to the Galaxy S4. It has a 1.9GHz quad-core processor with Adreno 320 graphics, and a 5-inch 1080p display. Its rear-facing camera, however, has been downgraded from 13-megapixels to 8-megapixels.

Samsung hasn’t made the Galaxy S4 Active official yet, but according to GSMArena, it has already been showcased in Croatia, so it shouldn’t be too long before we see it.
