Moshi has today announced its plans to enter the portable battery market in the second half of 2013 with a brand new charging product for Android and iOS devices. The device will employ Moshi’s trademark look, which consists of a modern, minimalist design and premium materials, and will initially be available with 5,000 and 10,000 mAh batteries.

Moshi’s new charger hopes to meet the demands of today’s smartphones and tablets, which become increasingly powerful and therefore increasingly power hungry. We’ve all had to cope with dead batteries when our devices just can’t keep up, but Moshi intends to provide you with a convenient power source you can rely on on the go.

“Moving into the portable battery space is a natural evolution for Moshi,” said Jon Lin, executive director of Moshi. “We’re tinkerers; we love to take on new challenges if we think we can do something better than what’s available today. We think our customers will be really pleased with our new battery solutions, and we can’t wait to show them our newest project.”

Moshie’s product will provide “ample” spare power to iOS and Android devices when electrical outlets aren’t readily available, thanks to high-capacity lithium polymer cell technology, which boast the ability to regulate charge and discharge cycles for maximum battery life. Its “Smart Detection” circuitry can recognize and adjust charges for different mobile devices.

Moshi’s battery will be available during the second half of 2013; we’ll let you know as soon as it’s on sale.
