Meet The Samsung Galaxy Grand: A Mid-Range Galaxy S III Lookalike With 5-Inch Display

Samsung’s Galaxy S III has been one of this year’s hottest Android handsets, but its high-end specifications mean it’s not ideal for everyone’s budget. With that in mind, Samsung has been working to meet demand for a similar handset that doesn’t quite cost so much. It has produced the Galaxy Grand, a mid-range handset with a 5-inch display that looks identical to its popular sibling.

In addition to its 5-inch WVGA TFT display, the Galaxy Grand boasts a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage — which is expandable via a microSD card up to 64GB. The handset also offers an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a large 2,100 mAh battery.

There will be two Galaxy Grand variants: the first of which will boast a dual SIM-card slot, which will allow you to carry two SIM-cards at once; while the other, which will arrive a little later, will be a single-SIM version. Both will come with Samsung’s latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software pre-installed.

The Galaxy Grand isn’t quite as exciting as the Galaxy S III, then, but it is a capable Android smartphone, with some very nice specifications. If you’re in the market for a mid-range handset, the Galaxy Grand’s impressive cameras, coupled with its large display, could make it a very good purchase.

Of course, the deciding factor is likely to be its price — and that’s one thing Samsung hasn’t yet revealed.
